We will be having a new artist in the tasting room kicking off Friday, March 6th!
Sally Murphy:
My artwork is deeply influenced by my belief in the spiritual and reflective power of creativity. I see my paintings as an invitation for others to experience a deeper connection to nature, peace, and introspection as well. I approach each piece with a sense of openness, allowing the conversation to emerge organically rather than from a fixed vision. This process aligns with my broader philosophy of creativity as a tool for personal transformation and connection with the divine. My work is not only a visual experience but a spiritual one, offering a deeper contemplation on energy of the world around us.
Acrylic Work
My acrylic pieces utilize a process is that is highly intuitive, allowing the work to capture a deeper spiritual essence of myself. My acrylic works serve as both art and meditation, inviting viewers to engage with the emotional and spiritual layers embedded in each piece. These pieces lean into rich color choices.
Oil Painting
For over ten years, I have honed a subtractive oil painting technique using my thumbnail and a rag to create images. This technique has allowed me to capture the raw beauty of nature in depictions of bird nests, tumbleweeds, and expansive landscapes filled with soft, billowy clouds. The subtractive process gives your paintings a distinct, ethereal feel, where the image emerges as if from a whisper of inspiration, revealing itself slowly and intentionally.
Summary
I am a self-taught artist, with the exception of an apprenticeship under Louis Maestas, in Taos, New Mexico in 2006. During this apprenticeship, I was introduced to techniques that I continue to use in my artwork, especially for my bird nests and tumbleweed paintings. The apprenticeship helped me deepen my connection with my creative process and refined abilities to tap into the spiritual aspects of my work. My work now blends intuitive expression with technical mastery.
Be sure to join us on March 6th staring at 5: 30pm with Dave Len Scott to kick off the new artist of the quarter!
